Namibia: Shebeem Owner Shoots Burglar with Father's 303

Arrested on charges of murder and possession of unregistered weapons, but released from custody.

A Shebeen owner, in Ongozi (Okahao) Village who shot and killed a burglar with his 303 riffle was arrested last week.
Ekandjo Moses, who was arrested after the shooting, was said to have been guarding his property when the deceased approached the property. Moses is then believed to have shot and killed the unarmed man on the spot.
According to Omusati Region public relations officer, Lineekela Shikongo, Moses shot the burglar with a 303 riffle in the head and died on the spot.
“The shebeen owner was guarding his shebeen at the time of the incident. He then heard someone cutting the zinc and trying to gain entrance,” said Warrant Officer Lineekela.
He said when Moses opened the door, there was a man standing in the entrance and then fatally fired at him with a firearm that belonged to his late father.
