GA: Pistol does not Fire, but Robbers Run Away

Around 9 p.m. the two women came back to the victim’s house with a male, identified by police as Vantella Malone, the victim told police. The victim said they entered his home uninvited.
According to police reports, Malone picked up a clothes line and told the victim he wanted it to sell as scrap metal. The victim said he told Malone he couldn’t have it and then Malone grabbed the victim around his neck and told him to tell them where the rest of the money was or else he would hurt him.
The victim said Strange and Beard began searching his house looking for money. The victim told police he reached inside his pocket and pulled out a pistol, pointed it at Malone’s face and pulled the trigger but the pistol didn’t discharge. About the same time one of the females yelled, “He’s got a gun,” and everyone ran out of the residence, the victim told police.

They didn't name the make of the pistol, so were left to wonder, no round in the chamber, bad ammo or was it a bad gun?
