I have personally had this experience. A rifle was taken out of my rifle rack by a deputy sheriff as if he were shopping. When all of the charges were dropped the court issued an order for the return of the rifle. When I got the rifle back the name of the deputy was scratched into the bluing over the bolt. the gun had been taken apart and a piece of the action had been broken. it took three weeks to get it back after the order was issued.
